About the Lorikeets

Our Purpose.
Our Culture.
Our Community.

The First Nations Lorikeets Rugby Club is more than a sports club. We are a culturally safe space built to support the social, cultural, mental, and physical wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

02 · Why We Exist

Why We
Exist.

We use rugby to reduce isolation, break down stigma, and end discrimination — and to create full, proud participation in community life, on and off the field.

Culture is the foundation.

03

Community is the reason.

03 · What We Do

Five Pillars.
One Movement.

To ensure our community has the space and support to thrive, FNLRC focuses on five core pillars — the foundations of everything we run, build, and stand behind.

01

Inclusive Sport

Culturally safe rugby programs that build connection and reduce isolation.

02

Holistic Support

Outreach, events, and programs that support mental health, wellbeing, and pride.

03

Breaking Barriers

Helping community members access opportunities and participate safely in sport and community life.

04

Preserving Heritage

Supporting connection to culture, customs, identity, and community.

05

Strong Advocacy

Advocating for safe, equitable, and non-discriminatory participation.

04 · Culture & Identity

Culture Runs Through
Everything.

The Lorikeets are built around identity, pride, visibility, and connection to mob. The club creates space for people to show up fully — as players, community members, supporters, and leaders.
